CAUBO officially launched an innovative collaborative benefits program for members. The launch of the Consortium is a significant milestone for the higher education sector and for the members of CAUBO’s National Benefits Steering Committee who have been spearheading this initiative since 2018.
We are pleased to announce that twenty CAUBO member institutions are participating in the CAUBO Benefits Consortium as of July 1, 2022, pooling their insured lives to achieve savings on administrative costs and creating opportunities for preferred pricing on optional value-added services.
Institutions that participate in the CAUBO Benefits Consortium, will be part of either Green Shield Canada (GSC) or Manulife’s collaborative benefits programs and gain economies of scale that they could not achieve independently.
Many other institutions have signalled an interest in joining, indicating strong member support for this initiative. Institutions can join the Consortium at any time throughout 2022 and 2023.
The Consortium will initially proceed in the form of affinity programs, managed by CAUBO and without any applicable Consortium fees, until the number of participants in each program has stabilized. Over time, the Consortium will actively engage in benchmarking exercises as well as create opportunities for participants to share information and knowledge with each other.
